Skin Irritation Essential Oil Blend Recipe

There can be several causes of skin irritations. Besides the itching, which is one of the most uncomfortable reactions to a skin irritation, you can’t know with 100% certainty what’s the cause. An irritation outbreak can occur for the following reasons, and others:

  • An allergic reaction to household or body cleansers, soaps and detergents
  • Dust mites
  • Animal dander
  • Stress
  • Gut related issues + more…………

If you can relate to one or more of these skin irritations triggers, you can try to adjust your lifestyle. However, in the meantime, what’s the best way to nip an outbreak in the bud?

Sure, you could try a steroid cream. A prescription cream may stop the irritation quickly. However, it’s very toxic and that is being absorbed into your skin which can then cause other problems & it also isn’t solving the root cause.

So, if you’re looking for an all-natural solution for your skin, here is an option for you, which I have had personal success with with my daughter & on myself.

Skin Irritation Blend

~10 drops Frankincense
~10 drops Lavender
~10 drops Tea Tree/Melaleuca
~10 drops Helichrysum
~3 drops Lemongrass
~4 drops Juniper Berry
~5 drops Geranium
add drops into a 1oz spray bottle OR a 5-10ml roller bottle & fill the rest up with fractionated coconut oil & apply directly onto area as needed.
If you don’t have all of those oils, you can just combine Lavender, Tea Tree & Frankincense together with Fractionated coconut oil to start and give that a go.

If you would like to make a cream, here is an easy recipe to do so.

Make Your Own Skin Irritation Cream

~½ cup raw shea butter
~½ cup coconut oil (optional: ¼ cup olive oil or almond oil)
~1 tablespoon local honey
~20 drops of Lavender essential oil
~10 drops of Tea Tree essential oil
~10 drops Frankincense
~optional additional essential oils: Geranium, Helichrysum, Lemongrass & Juniper Berry essential oils.

  1. Using a double boiler or something similar, melt the shea butter and coconut oil until they’re combined.
  2. Add the honey and continue to stir.
  3. Once everything has melted and is well blended, add the essential oils. Continue to blend.
  4. Slightly cool the ingredients so that it will begin to thicken, but keep it soft. You can put the solution in the refrigerator for a few minutes to speed up this process but not for long. You do not want it to harden too much.
  5. Using your mixer (either hand-held or a stand mixer), mix for several minutes until it has a frothy appearance, eventually developing the consistency of lotion. You can achieve this by continuing to mix about every 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer to the mason jar or other container.
  7. Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It will stay a bit softer at room temperature which may make it easier to apply.
